Students Nominated for Hunting-Tony Awards

Huntington Town Council members Mark Cuthbertson and Joan Cergol have announced the nominees for the 11th Annual Hunting-Tony Awards, which celebrate the works of high school theater students.

The ceremony will again be held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With many school performances canceled or postponed this  year, students will be judged by a panel of volunteers on videos they submitted performing monologues, songs, and dances.

“The pandemic could not stop the arts in Huntington. When we asked students to perform on video, they stepped up and did a great job,” Cuthbertson said. “Thank you to all our judges; they had the tough job of selecting our nominees. I’m looking forward to the 11th Annual Hunting-Tony Awards in May.”

“We had to get a little creative this year to get over some of the hurdles brought on by the pandemic,”  Cergol added, “but these performers took it in stride and gave us amazing video submissions to work with. It’s a real testament to how incredibly talented this year’s slate of nominees is.”
